Bed built to the bedroom wall

Bed sizes, and the room they have to fit

Mattresses come in fixed sizes. Bedrooms do not.

The mattress widths

  • Single: 920 mm
  • Three-quarter: 1070 mm
  • Double: 1370 mm
  • Queen: 1520 mm
  • King: 1830 mm

The bed is wider than the mattress

A headboard adds 60 to 100 mm at the top. A base with a surround adds 40 to 80 mm on each side.

Leave room to walk

Allow 600 mm on each side you walk down. Allow 900 mm where a cupboard door opens.

Then measure the wall

If the wall is 2600 mm and a king bed with a surround is 1950 mm, you have 650 mm left. That is one side table, not two.

Send the wall length and the mattress size. We build the bed to what is left.
